In 1993 the Texas Legislature enacted statutes that mandated the creation of the Texas public school accountability system to rate school districts and evaluate campuses. The accountability system has been modified throughout the years, most recently the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 5 which requires evaluation of additional indicators for postsecondary readiness and distinction designations. State accountability ratings are designed to provide information first and foremost to improve student performance. The district and OLS campus identification numbers noted below are needed to check state accountability ratings.
